HRT

HRT stands for Hormone Replacement Therapy. It is a treatment that replaces hormones that are at a lower level as a result of aging, disease or surgical removal of specific organs such as ovaries. The hormones most commonly replaced are estrogen, progesterone and testosterone, which are produced by the ovaries in women and the testes in men. HRT is most commonly prescribed to women who are experiencing symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, and mood changes. The treatment can be taken in different forms such as pills, skin patches, gels, vaginal creams, and ring.
